Brief Introduction
Hi!
My name is Janene. I live in Ohio with my handsome husband, cute Pomeranian and snuggly cat.
I am a mother to six beautiful daughters and three handsome son-in-laws.
I am also a Nana to six sweet granddaughters and one cute grandson.
My life is full but I am ready to start a new chapter in my life. My husband, Joe, will soon be retiring as Fire Chief. Which will be such a blessing and a big adjustment.
Joe is my highschool sweetheart. And we dated for 4 years before getting married. Our first born arrived 9 months and 3 days after our wedding. And our family started growing from then on. Oh how I love being a mom! It has been something that I have always wanted to be...well that and a teacher. The family started while I was in college, studying to be an elementary teacher. A family was more my dream, so I became a stay at home mom. I was living the dream!!
Now, the girls have moved out, except for one straggler, and I find myself ready to devote myself to a new life chapter. One which involves some traveling, home decorating and possible gardening.
Am I an actual homesteader? Hmmm 🤔, I guess I need to look up the definition.
Homesteader: someone who lives frugally or self-sufficiently (as on a homestead) especially by growing and preserving food. There are modern-day homesteaders who have traded contemporary conveniences such as … a reliable internet connection to grow much of their own food and—as much as possible—live off the land … chapter.
I guess, according to that definition, I am NOT a homesteader 😬 I am a horrible gardener. I have tried 3 times, unsuccessfully, to grow a garden. All have failed. Now my Mom and two of my daughters have green thumbs. So, they always have an abundance of garden vegetables that they share with me. Especially Zucchini 😫 Some years I bake 20 plus loaves of zucchini bread to put up in the freezer. Which, to be honest, is great to take out in the fall and winter months 🤤
I do try to live frugally. I thrift and bargain shop. I make food, for my family, from scratch. Not sourdough bread...but other stuff 😂
My new journey will begin as I tackle a small 12x28 shed. I would like to make it into my cozy cottage retreat and craft studio.
Join me as I navigate my life and discover new adventures.
